Annapolis, Apr 23. This being the festival of St. George,
patron of England; the Rev. Mr. Grandville, preach'd an
excellent sermon suitable to the day; the English society
made a handsome entertainment at the Stadt-house, of this
city, where they were honoured with the presence of my Lord
Baltimore, and a great number of gentlemen of distinction.
After dinner while several loyal healths were drunk,
accompan'd with a consort of musick, the town guns were
fir'd. In the evening, the ladies and gentlemen made a very
splendid appearance at a ball; which render'd the night
rather more agreeable than the day had been.
May 11. This morning the Right honourable the Lady
Baltimore, was safely deliver'd of a daughter, on which
occasion our guns were fired, and a general joy was visible
in every countenance.
