Thomas Cornish, the only son of a wealthy miller at New
Arlsford [England], was indicted at the said assizes for
robbing a farmer . . . [acquitted, farmer pretended he was
robbed.] Mr. Cornish was attended home by about 300 young
men and maids with white favors in their hats and bosoms, a
type of great innocency, the bells ringing, with other
demonstrations of joy. . .
