Extract of a letter from Dover, Apr, 24, 1743. This day
arriv'd a company of foreign troops to enter into the pay of
the English; which, as we imagine them Hungarians,
Sclavonians, Pandours, Croats, or some such, we believe they
are induced to, from the success of some other foreigners.
They say they will serve the master who gives them the best
pay; and from some encouragment receiv'd from a member of
our body, they are now on their march towards the Theatre of
Lincoln's Inn Fields. As they promise to be of as much use
to the town as the forces drawn from thence, they there will
set themselves out for shew. Their manner of attack is
somewhat remarkable, for they perform all their dexterity in
the air, like that of the Battle of the Cranes with the
ancient pigmies.
