Extract of a letter from Lisbon, dated Aug 25. On receipt
of the news of the glorious success of his Majesty's armies,
commanded by his most sacred person against the French,
commanded by Marshal Noailles, at Dettingen, &c. the loyal
members of the British factory immediately made a handsome
collection to celebrate that glorious action, and
accordingly met at the Quinta de Estrella, half a league out
of this city, and under the protection of his Majesty's
envoy, where a splendid entertainment was provided, with a
consort of musick, which was honour'd with the presence of
several of the nobility of Portugal. . . [toasts, bonfire,
fire-works]
