London, Feb. 18 . . . The garrison of Brussels having made
several successful sallies with great courage, in which they
had slaughter'd many of the besiegers, and nail'd up their
cannon, the day before yesterday a great shout was heard
from the city, which made it thought the besiegers had
proposed to capitulate; . . . [15 lines, suspension, then
renewed fighting repulsed the French.] Upon this good
fortune, all the bells in the town were set a ringing, and
Te Deum was sung.
