London. . . Feb. 19. . . We hear from Flanders and from
Holland of a violent storm of lightening, thunder, hail,
snow, and rain, mixed together, which happened there on
Sunday the 3d instant. At Nivelles, a small town about 6 or
7 leagues from Brussels, the lightening had set fire to the
tower of the church, as also to many houses, with the church
and steeple, at Arendonck, a village in the district of
Antwerp, which were thereby burnt to ashes. The cross upon
the tower of Duerne was likewise burnt, the bells melted,
and the organs spoiled, but the church was preserv'd. The
several churches at Endihoven and Deutekom in Zurphen, and
at Herenthals in Brabant, were fired by the lightening. The
same happened at Emmerick, Doesburgh, and at Vianan near
Utrecht, and with difficulty was extinguished.
