Aug. 10. . . Last Tuesday night the merchants trading to
New-England, and the other North American colonies, met at
the New-England and Cape Breton Coffee house, behind the
Royal Exchange, and celebrated General Pepperell and
Commodore Warren's glorious success in the reduction of
Cape-Breton; where the healths of his Majesty, the Royal
Family, Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, the secretaries of
state, the Duke of Bedford, and the glorious gentlemen who
were concerned in that grand expedition, were drank; several
barrels of beer were given to the populace, and the whole
was conducted with the greatest decorum: Martial musick was
perform'd, a large bonfire was made, and several fireworks
were display'd on this great event.
