Letter from our Correspondent near Edinburgh, dated Feb. 11.
The Rebels separated immediately after passing the Forth.
The young Pretender with the clans took to the hills; the
rest went to Perth, which they soon abandon'd, after a
speech made by Strathallan, concluding with this, that it
was expedient, that every one should provide for his own
safety. The Highlanders made into Athol's country; and the
Lowlandmen, about 2500, went coast-ways. A drum that
belong'd to their guards was made prisoner at Leith, who
says, that he had been discharg'd by Lord Elcho, as having
no more service for him. The people of Perth rose upon them
in marching off, and took about 20 prisoners. . .
