Petersburgh, Apr 27. . . The last letters from Moscow . .
. likewise say, that on the 13th of this month, the court
being present at the comedy of Tartoffe, when the play was
about half over, the audience were alarmed with the news
that the house was on fire, in one corner; her Imperial
Majesty immediately gave orders, that the guards should
assist those belonging to the theatre to put it out, and
continued with the Imperial Family in her box, till the play
was entirely over; by which noble example of prudence and
firmness of mind, all ill consequences were prevented, and
the fire put out with very little damage.
