Plimouth [England], June 20. This day was completed and
rung, one new peal of eight bells (the tenor weighed 4032
pounds) cast by Mr. Thomas Bilbie of Chew Stoke in
Somersetshire, which for their workmanship and harmonious
sound, are by all true judges thought to be excelled by none
in the Kingdom. One of the bells, by contribution of some
of the inhabitants of this town, was filled with excellent
punch, when the ingenious founder's health was chearfully
drank; and as a proof of the sense we entertain of his
merit, a handsome present (amounting to near twenty pounds)
was thrown into the mighty bowl.
