As Somebody hath pleased lately in the Gazette, to give us a
character of Dr. Foster and Mr. B---y's preaching, as he
found it in the Gentleman's Magazine for December 1736. you
are desired to publish the following piece, in which is a
character not only of those gentlemen's performances, but of
some of the clergymen on the other side of the water, first
printed in London, a few years since.
Behold how Papal W----ht with lordly pride,
Directs his haughty eye to either side;
Gives forth his doctrines with imperious nodd,
And frought with pride, addresses ev'n his God.
