June 6. They write from Hanover, that all the rich
furniture and other things of value that were in the castle
of that city have been removed elsewhere, particularly to
Stade; and that the horses of the King's stables are sent to
Gohrde. The company of French players are also discharged,
as of little use in the present circumstance. A violent
suspicion was entertained that some of these gentry gave the
French a description of an Italian who was sent to Cleaves
to take an exact account of the state of things, and the
number and destination of the French troops in that dutchy.
The poor man has been taken up for a spy, and hanged.
