Extract of a private letter from Madrid, Dec. 12. . .
A recruiting serjeant, who beats about the city, tells his
auditors, That he shall not give them the trouble of
learning the exercise of arms; all he shall want of them is
to handle a spade, to bury the poor Frenchmen, who, he is
sure, must be all killed before they get to Germany. That
he has got a bowl of punch at his lodgings, in which the
whole navy of France may ride; that once drank up, they have
nothing more to do but dress genteely; sail to the continent
in the King's yacht; and pick and chuse, where they like,
amongst the German Princesses.
