London, July 6. The Archbishop of Paris, in the mandate
which he issued for singing the Te Deum, on account of the
peace, says, " The most glorious and successful war is a
most terrible scourge, and signal victories are nothing but
real losses. Happy is that Kingdom whose sovereign is
convinc'd of the truth of it. The French King, after having
braved the dangers of battle [meaning at Fontenoy, where he
kept a distance] being crowned with victory, renounced the
advantage of his triumphs in order to give peace to Europe.
