Nantes, Feb. 4. There is shewn in this city a girl of
nineteen, born in Poitou, who speaks without a tongue.
After the small-pox, which she had at eight years of age,
her tongue putrified, and came entirely away. During the
two first years which followed this accident, she remained
speechless, making a noise only like a dumb person: After
that she began to talk a little, and asked her mother very
distinctly for a piece of bread. she has ever since
retained the use of her speech, and sings very easily.
