The following is an account of the practices observ'd by a
number of persons who have adopted the principles of one
Sandiman; and are therefore called Sandimonians, viz.
1. They assemble every Sunday in the morning and afternoon.
At these meetings they have prayer, reading, expounding,
preaching, and singing; and in that held in the afternoon
they administer the sacrament, as appears, by eating a
supper. Prayer is performed not only by the pastor and
elders, but by three or four of the brethren, who are called
upon by name. At the conclusion of each prayer, the whole
church says Amen; and the Lord's prayer is constantly used
both at the beginning and end of the worship.
2. In the interval, between the morning and afternoon
service, they have their Love Feasts; of this feast every
member partakes, by dining at the houses of such of the
brethern as live sufficiently near, and have habitations
convenient for the purpose. No member is allowed to be
absent. One member is called upon to ask a blessing, another
to return thanks, and they afterwards sing a spiritual song.
