Journal of the Times. (Continued.) June 27. It comes to us
from good authority, that the reason why the military parade
on Lord's days has not been laid aside, or at least the
music omitted in complaisance to the application made to
General Pomroy, by the Selectmen, and the earnest desire of
the sober inhabitants of this town, was not owing to a want
of disposition in that gentleman to gratify and relieve, but
to a want of power to supercede the order and regulations of
a superior officer.
