[Young ladies who brought linen, etc. which they had spun, 3
paragraphs of description] At four o'clock the young ladies
walked in procession two and two to the house of public
worship, where a sermon suitable to the occasion was
preached to them, and a number of others who attended, from
Acts 9.36. This Woman was full of good works, in which piety
industry, frugality, generosity, and benevolence were
recommended and encouraged. The closing prayer being made,
the following lines were sung.
Rubies! ye bright, ye orient pearls!
  How coveted by men!
And yet the virtuous woman's price
  Excells the precious gem.
. . . [16 more lines of poetry] After which several
anthems were sung in a melodious manner by the young
gentlemen; the assembly then, being dismissed with a
blessing, retired to their respective homes.
