Salem, 20th August 1773.  Departed this life in the 66th
year of his age, the honorable Benjamin Pickman, Esq;
formerly a Representative for this town, one of his
Majesty's Council, colonel of the First Regiment in Essex,
and a justice of the Court of Common Pleas for the same

  By the smiles of heaven on his industry and application to
business, he acquired an ample fortune, which enabled him to
be a most extensive blessing--He was a father to the poor,
and the widow's heart he often caused to sing for joy. . .
