The late important and pleasing account of the victory of
the allied forces over the British army. . . [6 lines,
expressions of joy] and a general ringing of the bells in
the town. . . [20 lines] The greatest part of the gentlemen
after dinner, attended at the seat of his Excellency the
Governor, to pay their compliments to his Excellency's Lady,
where they found a brilliant assembly of ladies, and
preparations for a ball in the most beautiful oeconomy.
After tea the evening was past in one of the most
innocent, graceful and pleasing amusements.
