Philadelphia, Dec. 22. Extract of a letter dated Fort Pitt,
Nov. 14. I am glad of this opportunity to give you an
account of the taking of the three Moravian Indian
congregations. . . [17 lines] In answer to this, the old men
told them, that it was impossible for them to move at this
time and leave their corn behind, for they and their
children would perish with hunger in the wilderness. The
Wiendats immediately began to kill their hogs and cattle,
and destroyed every thing in their way. All night they
danced the war dance and made a most shocking noise. . .
