Extract of a letter from Albany, dated July 2, 1782.
   We have been very unexpectedly honored with a visit from
the Commander in Chief. . . [10 lines]  Brigadier-General
Gansevort with forty volunteers escorted him to Saratoga,
where, after surveying the theatre of the glorious campaign
of 1777, he reviewed the first regiment of New-Hampshire,
and examining the block-houses at that place.  From thence
he went, the next day, to Schenectady; five miles from which
he was received by sixty of the principal inhabitants on
horseback, who attended him into the town amidst the ringing
of bells, firing of cannon. . .
