Yesterday morning between 9 & 10 o'clock, died of a
suppression of urine, at his house in Bowstreet, Covent-
Garden, Robert Wilks Esq; one of the masters of the Theatre
Royal in Drury-Lane. He was the best player in genteel
comedy that ever appeared on the English stage. He was also
remarkable for his great humanity & generosity. His death
is not only lamented by those who had the pleasure of his
acquaintance, but also by all who had any taste for
theatrical entertainments; and it may be truly said, that
his death is the greatest loss the English stage has ever
sustained.
