Mr. Episcopalian, Sir, I have seen in the last Evening Post
your remarks, on a letter publish'd in that paper Feb. 9th,
which you say was fill'd with odious reflections on the
ministers of the Church of England. . . [29 lines]
I could not help applying a line of Mr. Pope's----
All discord, harmony not understood,'----
But if the tinkling of bells psalterys and organs, the
garnishing a church with angels, cherubims, crosses &c. the
ceremonious dressing of your priests and your services, with
the observance of days months &c. &c. be decency, our
churches have no more pretence to it than those anciently
under the care and direction of the apostles, which we
desire humbly to imitate, instead of learning fashions at
Rome, and priding ourselves with Jewish and Antichristian
pageantry.----
