The castle of the Domicill the cream of their commerce! the
inherent rights of taxing themselves, and making their own
laws! are all swept away by new-fangled writs of
assistance, memorials, blind-folded depositions, and
scandalous perjuries transmitted, productive of hovering
acts and guarda lacosta's sugar acts, stamp acts, a standing
army in a time of profound peace, and attempts to quarter
soldiers on private families! And now to crown all with his
smattering of canon, civil & common law, music, and
architecture, a few grains of chicanery and low cunning,
without three scruples of common sense, conscience, honor or
honesty, Mr. J. would bring all church affairs to the
ultimate examen of a prime minister or arch prelate!. . . [2
