London, January 6. Via York. Yesterday the King of Spain
sailed with the fleet from Spithead, making in all about 250
sail, including merchant-men: He expressed great
satisfaction at his noble reception in England, and not a
few have rouz'd their genius's in poetry upon this occasion:
here follow two disticks, said to have Mr. Stepney (our
envoy at Vienna) for their author.
At Anna's call the Austrian eagle flies
Bearing her thunder to the southern skies.
Where a rash youth with an unequal sway,
Inflames the region and misguides the day,
Till the usurper from his chariots hurl'd,
Leaves the true monarch to command the world.
