Schaffouze, April 21. The dean of the Popish clergy at
Tockenburg has received a letter from the Pope's nuncio,
whereby all the clergy and inhabitants that are Roman
Catholicks, are threatened with excommunication, if they
consent to any regulations in religion which may be
prejudicial to the Church of Rome, by favouring the
Protestants; & the priests being affrighted hereby, will not
suffer the Protestants to sing psalms in their churches
either before or after sermon, nor suffer their school
masters to teach their children, &c. . . [8 lines]
