Glasgow, Jan. 25. This afternoon we had an express from
Edinburgh, of the King's safe return, upon which we
immediately sent out a proclamation for putting out candles,
at the ringing of the bells, which began at five a clock; at
which time the magistrates accompanyed with such noblemen
and gentlemen as were in town, the chief inhabitants, and
the officers of the militia, went to the town house, and
drank the healths of the King, Prince and Princess, and many
other loyal healths, under a tripple discharge of the
soldiers, drawn up at the cross, and the night concluded
with ringing of bells, and other demonstrations of joy.
