Te Deum was sung at Petersburg for the peace concluded with
the Ottoman Port. . .
At the desire of the Lords Bishops by the calamity at home
and pestilence abroad, the King for this winter has
prohibited the masquerades in London. At Oporto when an
opera of Christ's nativity was performing, and the principal
occurrences since the creation; a fire happened in which 18
or 20 of the spectators were suffocated or burnt to death,
among them a magistrate, who after escaping the danger,
ventur'd to go in to snatch his son from the flames, in
which he himself perished.
