From St. James's Evening Post Feb. 10. Bressau, Jan. 30.
This morning at two o'clock, we had a dreadful storm of
thunder and lightning, where by the sand-tower was set on
fire, and could not be extinguished till eleven in the
forenoon, by which time the tower was consumed to ashes, and
the bells and chimnies melted. Moreover, the church and
fine organ were in extreme danger by the falling in of the
tower; but by good providence the wind set so as to blow the
fire quite away from the houses.
