From the Daily Journal, July 29 & 27. Rome, July 15. The
courier which was expected form Vienna arriving last Sunday
morning, the cardinals of the Emperor's party, and those of
the party of Orsini, united themselves the same day to those
cardinals who were for advancing Cardinal Corsini to the
Pontificate. . . [10 lines] Cardinal Corsini was proclaimed
pope, with the usual ceremonies, and took the name of
Clement XII. The Cannon of Castle St. Angelo were then
discharg'd, bells rung, and the people shewed, by their
acclamations, how agreeable this choice was to them.
