London.  The following ode compos'd by Colley Cibber, 'Esq;
Poet Laureat. and set to musick by Dr. Green, Master of his
Majesty's Band of Musick, was perform'd before the King, the
Duke and the Princesses, in the old Council Chamber at St.
James, on his Majesty's Birth-Day.
THE ODE.
  Recitative.
While George provok'd to vengeance arms,
And gives the Western world alarms,
Grateful his natal day we sing.
And royal roofs with clangours ring.
  Air.
Hark ! the resenting voice of Thames,
In bursting thunder roars;
Indignant wrongs, with fatal flames,
Dismay the Indian shores.
Her guilty foes repent too late,
And crumbling walls confess their fate. . .
. . . [3 more recitatives; 2 airs]
  Chorus.
Thrice happy Briton ! thou canst boast !
Such a monarch guards thy coast;
Whose fleets, with British hearts supply'd,
Lords of the seas shall range and ride.
