November 1. 1746. As the following letter , dated October
18, wrote from on board the Boston Galley in Quiberon-Bay,
by one who was an eye witness of all that passed, gives the
most particular account of the late expedition on the Coast
of Brittany. . . In marching towards the town they had a
skirmish, but with a trifling loss. . . The churches they
stripped of their ornaments in images and plate; their
golden Gods were lost, even the bells were thrown down from
the steeples, and many granaries destroyed. . .
