London, July 17. To perpetuate the glorious deserts of the
brave old Blakeney, whose well earned honour shall
immortalize his noble, tho' untitled, name, I would propose,
that this brave and most noble veteran, (to contrast the
infamous reception assigned to the honorable, tho' ignoble,
B--ng) shall make his return to his King and country by a
publick entry through the streets of London.--What a noble
sight would it afford, and how just the reward ! to behold
this venerable hero leading the remains of his gallant and
undaunted garrison over Westminster-bridge, with drums
beating, colours flying, and all the honours their valour
and conduct have [extoried] even from the enemy.--. . . [8

Epigram.
When our small garrison gave up at last,
Richelieu admir'd the conquer'd as they past.
