New York, Novemb. 15. The same day [Tuesday last] came to
town from Montreal, in Canada, one---Williams, who gives us
the following particulars, viz. That he was a battoeman
under Col. Bradstreet, and when attack'd by the French and
Indians the 23d of July last about Oswego Falls, on their
way to Albany, was taken prisoner with 24 others . . .
when he arrived at Montreal, . . . [6 lines ] ---That he was
frequently told by the Frenchmen the very day that Oswego
would be attack'd; and that they kept mass on Montreal three
or four days successively upon the strength of it; and when
the news arriv'd of it's being reduced, sung Te Deum almost
as many more: --
