Extract of a letter from Paris, Dec. 5. "It gives us
infinite pleasure to see so many English noblemen in this
capital. Within the last fortnight there have arrived
upwards of fifty, who have brought with them good store of
English Guineas.
"The Prince of Conde, on his return from the army, has
been greatly caressed both by the court and the city. As
this young hero, if the war had continued, might still have
added many laurels to those he had already gathered in the
last campaign, the King said to him very obligingly, 'That
he only was like to lose by the peace.' When he appeared at
the opera, he was received as a conqueror. On the principal
actresses presented him with a crown of laurels, and made
him a compliment in the name of the whole assembly, and of
the nation.
