New-York, August 18. Early on Wednesday last, the 28th
Regiment quartered here, was reviewed in the Bowery by his
Excellency, General Gage; where they went through their
exercise, with such exactness in firings, and manoevres, as
gave great satisfaction to the General, and all the Field
Officers, and to a prodigious number of Ladies, Gentlemen,
and other inhabitants of the City,--All the Gentlemen of the
Army, caparison'd as customary; and as soon as it was over,
retired with the Ladies to Mr. Jones's at Renelagh Garden to
Breakfast, where they were very sumptuously entertained.
Soon after which they withdrew, and in the evening repaired
thither again, where they were entertained with an elegant
cold collation, concluding with a ball, fire-works, music,
as usual, &c. the whole at the invitation of the Hon. Major
Brown, of the said regiment.
