Extract of a letter from a gentleman at Princeton, December
5, 1767
I am informed that on Wednesday last as the New-York Stage
waggon, with a number of people, where crossing Water's
Ferry, at Staten Island, the boat was overset, by which
unfortunate accident Mrs. Morris, wife to Mr. Morris the
player, and her maid servant, were drowned--The other
passengers, the driver, and the boatman were, with the
utmost difficulty, taken up, particularly Mr. Morris and the
Stage driver--Two horses were also lost. . .
