On Saturday a great body of sailors met in St. George's fields in the East, and went to St. James's with colours flying, drums beating, and fifes playing, and presented a petition to his Majesty, setting forth the hardships they at present labour under on account of the smallness of their wages, and praying relief. They divided themselves into two parties, one went over London_Bridge, the other marched through the city. |
