Mr. Draper, Having lately seen in your paper a paragraph of
a clergyman who had forgot his notes, ordered his clerk to
sing the 119th psalm; on which the minister immediately
walked out of church, took his horse and rode 4 miles home,
and returned before the psalm was ended, -- a similar
instance happened yesterday at a meeting-house within 12
miles of Boston, which please also to insert.
The minister gave out the 13th part of the 119th psalm,
in Dr. Watts's version, on which he immediately walked out
of meeting and home, being about a quarter of a mile; but
that part of the psalm being too short for his return, the
deacon went on with the 14th part, and ended it, (being
eight staves in the whole,) just before the minister came
in. Various were the conjectures of the congregation,--some
that the minister had forgot his notes, others a paper that
is called a Relation that is read on admitting a person into
the church, being Sacrament Day. ---February 13, 1769.
