On the Lord's Day after the anniversary of the 5th of
March, the Rev'd Mr. Lathrop preached a sermon at the Old
North Meeting-House in this town, to a large auditory, from
those words in Gen. iv. II.
At Salem, the Rev'd Dr. Whitaker, also preached a sermon
on the occasion in the evening of the 5th of March, from
Luke I. 2. & 3. verses, after singing the 11th Psalm. The
Essex Gazette, gives an account that the assembly was very
numerous, who devoutly joined the Doctor in a fervent,
pathetic prayer . . .
