From the Maryland Gazette.
Dublin, August 8. There was also a painter drawing Venus
and Adonis; and printers setting the letters, and printing
off many sheets, with the following poem, which was
distributed to the populace, and given them great
satisfaction:
A POEM ON THE ART OF PRINTING.
Hail sacred art! thou gift of heaven, design'd
T'impart the charms of wisdom to mankind,
To call forth learning from the realms of night,
And bid bright knowledge rise to public sight.
