The last letters from Italy bring an account, that General Paoli had gained a very considerable advantage over the Genoeses troops commanded by General Matra, having totally defeated a body of 1200 men, of whom upwards of 900 had been made prisoners. . . General Paoli was in March, with his whole force, in pursuit of M. Matra, and had caused Te Deum to be sung in all the provinces under his jurisdiction. |
