History of the late war, continued.
The nation exulted greatly in this advantage, especially as
it almost accompanied the news of our glorious successes in
America. Nothing was omitted to give the action its utmost
eclat; the brass cannon and mortars taken at Cherbourg, were
drawn from Kensington to the tower, quite through the city,
in great pomp and Sept. 16 order, adorned with streamers,
attended by guards, drums, music, and whatever else might
draw the attention of the vulgar.
