London, March 10. The masqued ball at Soho on Monday
evening was not so numerous as some have been, but
exceedingly brilliant, and replete with variety of
character. [Description of costumes follows, including]
two harlequins.---a Mungo.---A fool, with cap and bells. . .
all very curious dresses, well sustained, and intirely new
in their appearance in this country: the dress was soon put
off by Mr. R. Morris, who afterwards appeared in a Domino,
but admirably kept up by his brother and Mr. Deere, for the
rest of the night; they were each of them curious adepts in
their shell-music, which often sounded to the bottle and the
dance. . . Mrs. Yates, as one of the witches in Macbeth.---A
Pierot, with a mask admirably expressive of fatuity. . .
[More costumes.]
The company danced allemandes and cotillions in the ball-
room till between twelve and one, when the supper rooms were
opened; they displayed a scene of great elegance and taste.
