London, March 26. Saturday morning the general officers
belonging to the first regiment of foot-guards attended in
Sommerset-gardens, to see a few select sergeants and
corporals exercise; their music were all there, and played
several new marches for approbation; but their old one was
only used while the men were marching, and officer thought
it best to have the same continued, at least till his royal
highness the Duke of Gloucester (their colonel) should turn;
for General Salter very justly observed, that should the
change take place now, and not be afterwards approved of by
him, it would only give the soldier unnecessary trouble. . .
