On Saturday a great body of sailors met in St. George's Fields in the east, and went to St. James's with colours flying drums beating, and fifes playing, and presented a petition to his Majesty setting forth the great hardships they at present labour under on account of the smallness of their wages, &c. and praying relief. They divided themselves into two parties, one went over London Bridge, the other marched through the city. |
