Lord Baltimore's Tryal, continued. . . [3 lines, Lord
Baltimore and Miss Woodcock boating.] In the afternoon two
gentlemen and a lady arrived as visitors, having as she was
told, been sent for from London. They entertained
themselves with what were called Italian shades; some sheets
were sewed together, and hung up, with candles placed only
on one side; the spectators are on the dark side, and the
performers placing themselves between the sheets and the
candle on the other side, are perceived by their shadows on
the linen. Lord Baltimore was among the performers. . .
[257 lines describing Miss Woodcock's continuing confinement
by Lord Baltimore.]
