(As the account of the commencement at Dartmouth College,
taken from the New Hampshire Gazette and published in our
last, was in some instances incorrect, the following
accurate account is inserted by desire) The 25th ul. was
celebrated at Dartmouth College the anniversary
commencement. . . [7 lines] The forenoon exercises were
closed with an anthem. . . [5 lines] An anthem, and then
prayer concluded the agreeable solemnities of the day. . .

There were present about two thousand spectators,
notwithstanding the malevolent efforts of a writer in
Draper's paper, of the week but one before the commencement,
giving a false account of the time of commencement, no
doubt, to prevent a respectable appearance on the occasion.
Persons of this turn having endeavored in vain, after
repeated efforts, to spread their baleful influence on the
other side the Atlantick are now content to play at smaller
game rather than stand out. Viewing which the muse takes
fire and sings,
Thus fell barbarians whose rapacious breasts,
Delight t' annoy mankind and vex the beasts;
The offence of whose pleasure seems to lie,
In hateful acts, and blackest cruelty.
