WINTER.  A PASTORAL SONG.
When the trees are all base, not a leaf to be seen,
And the meadows their beauty have lost;
When nature's disrob'd of her mantle of green
And the streams are fast bound with the frost,

A SKETCH OF HUMAN LIFE. 
The various seasons of the year,
As they successively appear,
Life's stages, as they roll display, 
And much morality convey,

colony who composed and wrote them in the 96th year of his
age]
J have liv'd out full ninety years and five,
O wonderful! that I am still alive!
Having my understanding clear and bright, 
Now as an Acrostic on my name to write.
